The reMAYns

Birthdays and baseball, elections and house projects, soccer and track and concerts and dance. Covid for T, but also a presidential academic award, field trips for Quinn with Mama in tow, Everett made all-stars and then our life was swallowed by baseball--even more than it already was--and Cora had parties and posters and was my very best sidekick for her very last month of half-day school. May is my favorite month of the year because not only does it house my birthday, but it leads us right into the best season in existence: SUMMMMMMMMEEEERRRRRR! This May was a good one.

22 and good4u

Everyone kept asking me if this was a BIG birthday, you know, like 35 or 40 or some other age deemed appropriate by societal norms to throw yourself a glitter-filled party with a bunch of girlfriends. But no, it wasn't. I think I turned 37, though if you ask me on any given day I'll honestly answer either 36, 37 or 38 because I can never stinking remember how old I am. Is that because I'm getting old? Or is it because I still feel 25 and my mind can't quite compute the late 30s idea? Regardless, life is too short and way too beautiful not to be celebrated so when I heard Harlow's was hosting a Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo dance party a week after my birthday I took it as a sign from the universe that this, my friends, was meant to be my birthday party.

I think there were 25 of us in total, most middle-aged moms and many who had never before entered a nightclub, and holy cow did we dance the dang night away. I was hyped on life and within minutes all of the make-up and glitter and curls in my hair were drenched in happy sweat. IT WAS SO FUN!!! I wore glitter pants and my Diet Coke purse and I knew every word to every song and when I got home, I sat on the dining room table and stuck my face right into the cake that a friend had made me. Being alive is such a gift and I love it! I love life!

The best news of the weekend was Corie flying out to celebrate with me, the worst was Kai getting covid mere minutes before the party began so Ash having to bow out. (I've still got to get that girl to a dance club!) Happy birthday to meeeeee, thanks to everyone who made it so special.
