Touring the City

Our first few days in Cambridge we spent familiarizing ourselves with the town. Jim has been here a few times, but for Talmage and me it was one adventure after another. Our walk to the city center from our home is short and beautiful--walking beside the River Cam and through a pasture with grazing cows. I was super impressed! We definitely stick out for two main reasons: a) We have a baby, there aren't many of them around here. b) We are dressed like true Californian's in 60 degree weather--in our Winter clothes! Poor Talmage hates those hats but I make him wear them. It's cold (and doesn't he look cute!)

We went to Pembroke, which is Jim's college within the University and he picked up his student card. I made him take a picture to document this crazy and exciting milestone. We're actually here, wow! And PS--do you want to know who else attended Pembroke College? William Pitt, the youngest Prime Minister in British history and also star of one of my favorite movies "Amazing Grace." Seriously, if you haven't seen it you need to! OK, one more cool fact. Pembroke College was founded in 1347 (ish!). Yeah, that's like way before Columbus sailed the ocean blue. Cool, huh?

a LONG trip

The flight was good, but LONG. Fortunately I worked some magic with the person at the desk (I think the crying baby and my own tears helped!) and he gave us a free upgrade to a bulkhead seat. Jim and I got six extra inches of leg room, and they brought Talmage a bassonet that hooked onto the wall in front of me. SWEET! He slept almost the whole way (we left at 7 pm) and when he wasn't sleeping the angel baby sat on my lap and watched re-runs of Hannah Montana! The flight was relatively uneventful (although does anyone else get even just a little bit nervous when the plane starts bumping like crazy...especially when there's no land in sight?!) and ten+ hours later we landed at Heathrow airport.
Jim and I didn't really sleep and we were wasted! Talmage was screaming at the top of his lungs (which again worked to our advantage--the British officers escorted us to the very front of the customs line...no wait time for us!) and with 4 carry-ons, 5 pieces of checked luggage, a car seat, a stroller and the kid we were off (I wish I had a picture of the circus we must have looked like...but who had hands to take it!?) Our taxi driver met us at the front of the airport and one hour later we pulled up to our new home in Cambridge. It really is so cute and we couldn't be happier. It's a two-story row home and there are 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. After living in that tiny one-bedroom in Provo this place is a mansion! We love it.
Talmage boy is finally getting used to his new home (after a week and a half) but the first few days were torture! He didn't sleep well, or eat well and he spent most of his time SCREAMING! The poor baby. It was hard on me and I knew exactly what was happening. He had no idea what hit him! Here he is on night #1 in our new place!

Our Last Cali Hoorah

Yeah! We finally have the internet and I have about a million posts to share...you think I'm joking! I'm totally serious and so excited to let you in on what's been going on with the Wigginton 3. Here are the whacky pictures from San Francisco the day we left for London (my fam took us to the airport in SF). Who doesn't adore these hat shops on the pier? Anyway, enjoy and buckle up for a long line of posts!

Landy's Baptism

How lucky were we to meet this sweet girl?! Landy has been in America from China for only three short weeks and we were lucky enough to spend nearly every day together! I had the fabulous opportunity to use my Chinese and teach her the missionary discussions. I studied my language materials hard core and luckily with Heavenly Father's help a lot came back to me. She was baptized yesterday and it was such a special meeting. I love her and we'll super miss her!

This is us at her confirmation at church today. On my right is Sister Lin, a super awesome member in our area who is originally from Taiwan.

Ice Cream and Cake, Do the Ice Cream and Cake

Is anyone else obsessed with those Baskin Robbins commercials? Well, my mom surprised us with a 31 flavors ice cream cake...and she sang as she gave it to us! The real story though was in who got to eat the cake. Since we'll be gone for Talmage's first birthday we decided to give him a little sneak peak at the awesomeness of ice cream and cake. Yum! Is anyone else shocked that he loved it? I wasn't. He dug in. Let's be honest...I can't wait until he's one and we can do this again.

Apple Hill

Apple Hill is a McKee family tradition. We go up the mountain each year on the day after Thanksgiving to cut down a Christmas tree and eat the most delicious caramel apples EVER! Unfortunately, this year we won't be in town for the blessed occasion so we decided to take the hike up the mountain early. It was SO MUCH FUN. The cider, the caramel, the In-N-Out on the way home--such the great day!

All of the boys enjoyed their yummy treats. Jim a burger, Chase some caramel and baby Talmage chewing on a fresh Apple Hill apple!

Our Six Month Old Miracle!

Where does the time go? Six months have passed by so quickly and we are constantly reminded what a blessing it is to have Talmage with us. This last week he had a follow-up visit with the child neurologist. He wants to check on his development until Talmage is at least 2 years old because of our rather rocky start. As I was reminding the doctor of our nightmare of a delivery and Talmage's first few painful weeks in the world he was pacing back and forth in the room. The doctor looked at Talmage and then at me and said, "That is the most normal, perfect baby I have ever seen. Baby's who have been through what he has been through just don't look like that. There really must be a higher power, greater than us all, looking after him and your family." I know Heavenly Father is mindful of each of us and I know he must have great things in store for this little perfect man. He loves him and we love him SO much. What a miracle!

I was playing around with our camera at Noni and Grampa's. He is just such a doll!
